September is fast approaching, and schools are starting, in one form or another. Here in the Manchester Finnish school the plans for the coming term are also taking form.
Hallitsevan koronavirustilanteen ja tämänhetkisten hallituksen ohjeistusten takia emme valitettavasti pääse vielä hetkeen tapaamaan kasvotusten. Koulu alkaa kuitenkin normaalisti, ensimmäinen koulukerta on 05.09.20. Jatkamme etäopetuksella samoilla ryhmillä kuin keväälläkin. Lapsille on kolme ryhmää, alle kouluikäiset (0-5 vuotiaat), nuoremmat kouluikäiset (5-9 vuotiaat) ja vanhemmat kouluikäiset (9-17 vuotiaat). Aikuisille olemme järjestäneet myös kolme ryhmää – aloittavat, keskustelu ja edistyneet.
Due to the current Covid-19 situation and the current government guidelines, we unfortunately cannot meet face to face quite yet. However, the school is starting as normal, the first session will be on 5th September. We will continue the distance learning with the same groups as in the Spring. There will be three groups for the children, playgroup (0-5 yrs), younger school age (5-9 yrs) and older school age (9-17 yrs). For adults we will also have three groups – beginners, conversation and advanced groups.

Lukukausimaksut pysyvät samoina kuin viime vuonna/The fees will be same as last year:
£12 yksi lapsi / 12 one child,
£18 enemmän kuin yksi lapsi / £18 more than one child/family,
£42 aikuiset/syyskausi / £42 adults per Autumn term,
£6 aikuiset kerta / £6 adults per time
Opetukseen käytämme lähinnä Zoom-sovellusta. Pienemmille koululaisille ollaan myös järjestämässä materiaalipakettia yhteisiä askartelutuokioita varten. Tarkempia lisätietoja lukukauden suunnitelmista saa suoraan ryhmien opettajilta.
For the teaching we will mainly be using Zoom. There are also plans to send material packs for the younger children, in readiness for the Zoom craft sessions. Further information for the plans for the term you can get directly from your teacher.
Viimeiset kuusi kuukautta ovat koetelleet meidän kaikkien sietokykyä, kärsivällisyyttä ja sopeutumiskykyä. Ja näyttää siltä, että tämä epätavallinen tilanne jatkuu vielä jonkin aikaa. Uskon kuitenkin, että suomalaisella sisulla tästä selvitään.
The last six months have really tested all our perseverance, patience and adaptability. And it is looking like this unprecidented situation is still going to continue for the time being. However, I believe that the Finnish ”sisu” is going to get us all through it.
Toivomme, että otatte joukolla osaa koulun tarjoamaan etäopetukseen, tällä turvaamme koulun jatkuvuuden, ja sen, että pääsemme viimein takaisin kirkolle kahvittelemaan ja tapaamaan toisiamme ihan kasvotusten. Haluamme olla tukemassa alueen suomalaista yhteisöä mahdollisuuksiemme mukaan, ja olisikin hienoa, jos teillä olisi ehdotuksia siitä, miten voimme tukea teitä.
We sincerely hope that you will all take part in the distance learning we will be offering. This will ensure that that the school has the means to keep on operating, and that we will eventually all be able to meet up face to face over a cup of coffee and a korvapuusti. The school is here to support you by whatever means it has. It would be great if you could let us know your suggestions on how the Finnish school of Manchester could be there for you.
